Dr. Sakiru Adebayo is the winner of the Nigeria Prize for Literary Criticism 2022.

Dr Adebayo is a renowned academic and a vital member of the Department of English and Cultural Studies. His academic journey began in a small town in Southwestern Nigeria and led him to the prestigious University of Ibadan and later to the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa, where he earned his Ph.D.

With expertise in African and African Diaspora Literature, postcolonial studies, and trauma and memory studies, Dr. Adebayo has made significant contributions to these fields. In the coming year, he will be sharing his extensive knowledge by teaching English courses focused on African and African Diaspora Literature.
