Dr. Olajide Otitoju, a Chemical Engineer from Omuooke-Ekiti in Ekiti State, Nigeria, is a Post-Doctoral Research Associate at the University of Sheffield, UK. His expertise lies in Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS), working within the Process and Energy Systems Engineering Research Group at the School of Chemical, Material, and Biological Engineering.
Dr. Otitoju completed his B.Eng. in Chemical Engineering at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Nigeria, in 2011, earning recognition for the best research project. He was awarded a prestigious Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) Scholarship in 2014 to pursue an MSc in Environmental and Energy Engineering at the University of Sheffield, which he completed in 2015. In 2017, his outstanding PhD research proposal on solvent-based post-combustion carbon capture earned him another PTDF scholarship, leading to his doctorate in January 2022.
His research focuses on developing innovative energy systems, including modeling and optimizing carbon capture processes, direct air capture technologies, and hydrogen production. Dr. Otitoju has published widely and contributed to projects funded by leading organizations like BEIS, UKCCSRC, and EPSRC. He has presented at major international conferences, gaining recognition for his contributions to sustainable energy solutions.
Dedicated to achieving global carbon neutrality, Dr. Otitoju is a registered engineer with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) and actively mentors young engineers and scientists, fostering innovation and leadership in environmental engineering.
