James Ngwu Eze is a poet, journalist, cultural organiser, and communications strategist. His debut poetry collection, dis-possessed, won the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) Poetry Prize in 2020 and was longlisted for the Nigeria Prize for Literature in 2022.

As a solo artist, he released two extended plays, Open Secret and Exhale, exploring themes of a better world and the journey within.

James co-founded and curates Return 2 Idoto, a poetry festival established in honour of Christopher Okigbo, and A Flutter in the Woods, an annual evening of poetry and music held in Awka, Anambra State. He also co-curated the Fidelity International Creative Writing Workshop in Lagos and Abuja.

In 2022, he founded the Udala Nation Project, a collective dedicated to finding new audiences for poetry through music. In 2025, he chaired the planning committee for Things Fall Apart Day, a cultural celebration commemorating Chinua Achebe’s classic novel and its impact on society.
